My backpack is full. My lunch is packed. My alarm is set. Tomorrow, I go back to school.
I’ll give you a minute to let that sink in.
Nearly eight months after I’ve had to be accountable for anything, like a fist to the stomach, I will have to deal with homework. And presentations. And tests.
God, I hate tests.
On Tuesday, one of my best friends is moving to D.C. Last weekend, another one moved down the street from me. Next week, another one moves to Baltimore. Unfortunately, I will not be able to celebrate their arrivals with them, for I will be in school.
Friday night, to celebrate my last Friday of freedom, I went to see a cover band in Clarendon and did a three-stop bar hop. Sadly, I will not be able to do this again (until winter break), for I will be in school.
Last night, to honor my last Saturday of freedom, I went to a phantom BBQ (where there was food advertised but no actual food provided) and watched Aladdin on TV. It sucks, but that will be the last Disney movie that I watch on TV for the next two years, for I will be in school.
Alright, so it may not be that bad. I do only have class three days a week and going out and “networking” is a huge part of getting a MBA (we have two “mandatory” happy hours scheduled for this week already). And besides, when have I ever let school or work come between me and fun?
People have asked me, “what does this mean for the website?” To be honest, I don’t really know. One thing that is for certain, the website will not be shut down. Fear not, whenever a funny Youtube video passes through my inbox, I will be quick to post it to SoS for your viewing pleasure. Original content may be another story though.
The past couple weeks I have been busy doing Summer assignments and all kinds of review courses. As you have noticed, it has hindered my blogging efforts. I can only assume that things are going to get worse. In fact, and this is not the first time this has happened, this week I had a whole post regarding Nazi dental hygienists mapped out but just ran out of time to post it. I could see this happening more and more as the school year progresses but please know that I have not given up on the website.
In conclusion, this has been a great Summer. There are very few things that I would have done differently and, while I admit to having gotten bored in April and May, the past two months have restored my faith in having “nothing to do” being fun. Now if only my bank account felt the same way…
So, to paraphrase a proverbial statement, the only thing that the end marks is a new beginning. This marks the end of the Summer of Scott. So I happily welcome you to…
The Schoolyear of Scott
Enjoy!
